Be the vessel of metcy: The Story of Redemption.
This morning, on Sep 16th.In 2025 I felt a the Holy Spirit stirring within my spirit that compelled me to share a story of hope and redemption—one that transcends both the confines of our local church communities and the glitz of Hollywood. It’s a story that resonates deeply as we reflect on the power of mercy and forgiveness.
In Malaysia, the Holy Spirit is at work among a group of individuals yearning for a place of worship—a church that embodies unity, acceptance, forgiveness and love. Among these individuals, the narrative of a particular shepherd stands out. This pastor, a leader who walked in divine authority, dedicated his life to the Kingdom of God. He was a beacon of hope, helping people from various tribes and tongues, building an altar based on the ultimate sacrifice—the Lamb of God.
However, life situation and circumstances threw him into a valley of despair. He faced a severe setback and fell ill, which led to a painful experience of isolation. Those who once called themselves his brothers now engaged in gossip and slander, ostracizing him from the very community he helped nurture. It was a brutal reminder of how, sometimes, those within religious circles can fail to extend mercy and forgiveness, becoming harsh and judgmental instead. The story can be well describe in Joseph’s life among his brothers
Simultaneously, there’s the story of a renowned Hollywood actress, Sharon Stone. Once basking in the limelight, she too faced devastating blows—a serious illness and the subsequent loss of her contracts. Cast aside by the industry that had once celebrated her, Sharon found herself grappling with feelings of despair and hopelessness.
Yet, in the midst of such suffering, both of these individuals—one a shepherd in Malaysin church and the other a star in Hollywood—experienced the incredible mercy of God. His hand reached out in compassion, offering them a chance for repentance and a path back to righteousness. This serves as a powerful reminder: the world, often absent of genuine mercy, can fall short of embodying the love we are called to show one another.
The same religious spirit that once rejected them is the spirit that unjustly condemned Jesus upon the cross. In the face of judgement, Jesus implored anyone without sin to cast the first stone, highlighting our collective need for grace. The Psalms remind us of God’s desire for mercy over sacrifice. The prophet Haggai echoes this sentiment, urging us to walk humbly before the Lord.
Micah 6:8, He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, To love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
In our own lives, let us aspire to offer the same grace of mercy that has been extended to us. As we reflect on these stories, let us remember that the Lord's goodness endures forever. His mercies are renewed every morning, inviting us into a journey of faith and redemption.
May we be vessels of mercy, capable of kindness and forgiveness, for the world desperately needs it. Amen.
