A Journey of Faith: An Unexpected Call to New Zealand
Life has a funny way of surprising us, doesn't it? Recently, I found myself in a minibus with some wonderful people: Hetsiba, Ruth, June , and a few others. As we crammed into the bus, I remember joking about how it felt a bit like the disciples gathered around Jesus. Little did I know, this bus ride would lead to a revelation that none of us anticipated.
As the ride progressed, something caught my eye—a woman, visibly pregnant, approached the bus. My instinct was hesitant. I thought, "Are you sure you want to invite her on board?" Yet, the encouragement from Hetsiba and Ruth Saw was contagious, and before I knew it, she was seated in the back, looking a bit uncertain.
When I glanced at June, we exchanged knowing looks. It was clear—we needed to pray for this woman. After a brief moment of prayer, something wonderful happened. Her demeanor changed. Her eyes lit up, and there was a noticeable energy, as if her spirit lifted. Even her baby began to kick and move with joy! Suddenly, we felt a sense of peace wash over us, and I turned to Hetsiba and smiled, "I think we’re good."
Just when I thought our ride couldn't get any more surprising, we were jolted out of our thoughts when someone outside called out, "Get off! We’re in New Zealand!" Honestly, I was stunned. New Zealand? I had never even considered it as a destination—my thoughts were elsewhere. Had I eaten too much, or was it indeed a divine nudge?
This unexpected announcement led us to delve into a conversation about mission trips. As June shared her excitement about a potential outreach in New Zealand, I could see the fervor in her eyes. She mentioned a pastor who might be involved and teased the possibility of a Firestarter initiative there. It was as if the pieces were aligning, and suddenly, we were all sparked with enthusiasm.
What amazed me was June’s participation in this planning. Usually, she wasn’t able to join our Tuesday night prayer meetings, but that day she was present and engaged. The urgency of the moment was palpable. It was clear: we were being called to move.
I realized that in the midst of this whimsical bus ride and a prayer circle, God was revealing plans bigger than we had imagined. The symbols—a minibus, a pregnant woman, an unexpected destination—seemed to weave together a narrative we hadn’t foreseen.
As we concluded our conversation, I couldn't help but reflect on how our small gathering had blossomed into a potential mission. I started jotting down notes to connect with others who might share in our newfound calling. Plans to reach out to Joshua Ba were already in motion. It seemed like everyone was gearing up—one friend even mentioned they had already purchased a suitcase in Malaysia!
What a thrill it was to dream alongside my fellow travelers. Who knew a simple ride in a minibus could open up new avenues, stretching not only our understanding but also calling us to action?
As we look ahead, what I ask from you, dear reader, is to join us in prayer. Whether it’s about New Zealand, another destination, or even a personal journey, let’s remain open to where God might lead us, much like our surprising minibus adventure.
Stay tuned for more stories as we navigate this unfolding journey!
