Consuming Desire, Holy Hunger

Prophets are called seers, with the ability to see into the spiritual realms. They are also able to discern the motivation of the human heart. The prophet's heart is focused on watching Almighty Yahweh. So often He will ask his prophets what they see. Elisha was following his spiritual father Elijah for years and yet there was a deeper desire in his heart for more.
The spiritual key here is to have a consuming desire, holy hunger, and desperation considering God's power to be manifested in your life. The majority of people don't have the anointing because they either have no desire or willingness to pay the price of total separation from the world. The Bible gives some great examples of people like Elisha, Jacob, Ruth the Moabite, David...etc who showed their commitment and have an earnest desire to receive from Almighty God. Their faith and wholeheartedly committed were honored by God. In 2 Kings 2:2 prophet Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, for the LORD has told me to go to Bethel.”
But Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives and you live, I will never leave you!” So they went down together to Bethel".
Young Elisha knew deep within that he need to have much more than his spiritual father had been walking to face this generation that he was living in. Therefore he becomes desperate for more spiritual power. And God rewards this man but giving him the desire of his heart for his generation. It was the Lord Jesus who taught us in Matthew 5:5 that God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. God will always fill a hungry and seeking heart. Elisha knows that Elijah will be taken up by Elohim and he refuses to let him go but was willing to see the divine manifestation. He  earnestly desire and pursue what was rightfully his " When they came to the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I can do for you before I am taken away.”And Elisha replied, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit and become your successor.“You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah replied. “If you see me when I am taken from you, then you will get your request. But if not, then you won’t. And as they were walking along and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was carried by a whirlwind into heaven.2 Kings 2:9-11. Elisha's eyes were fixed on Elijah and had seen the glorious departure into Heaven and he was alone. Understandably, he was weeping when he realized that he will not see anyone yet there his reword was lying on the ground, ready to be picked up and used purposefully. The spiritual mantle of Elijah was imparted to Elisha and the gift of the working of miracles was immediately activated when he stood before the river Jordan and called "Where is the Lord God of Elijah?". The spiritual mantle with double portion rested on Elisha and then the river divided again. In all this time there was a group of 50 prophets from the school of the prophets founded by the prophet Samuel watching from afar distance who saw the manifestation of this gift of the working a miracle and said "The spirit of Elijah rests upon Elisha".
